Brandi Glanville Vaginal Rejuvenation: Charged It To Ex-Husband
Posted by admin in celebrity plastic surgery on May 10, 2013
Reality stars often obtain cheap PR by talking about plastic surgery. This one is over the top even for a reality star:
Brandi Glanville charged her ex-husband for a vaginal rejuvenation procedure:
“I would ask Eddie from time to time if my vagina was the same after childbirth. He always said yes, except once,” Glanville writes. “He was actually quite vulgar.” In the book she writes that a week after her surgery, Cibrian called her screaming, “What the f**k cost you $12,000? Did you get a nose job?” According to Glanville, she simply responded, “Yes. A nose job,” and hung up.
“I decided that since Eddie ruined my vagina for me, he could pay for a new one,” Glanville writes in her book.

The fact that Ms Glanville spends time smearing her ex is not all the surprising. I’ve been divorced. We have discussed my opinion of vaginal rejuvenation before as well. What exactly Ms Glanville had done is unknown. Labiaplasty as I perform it does not affect the vagina.
It is true that women tend to consider surgery “down there” when they are “between men.” I have not been aware of an ex being charged for it however in my practice. Until now I have really not given it much thought.
I have not heard women blaming men for the condition of their genitalia however. It is clear that Ms Glanville had a unhealthy relationship with her ex (they are divorced) and just may harbor some ill will toward him. Then again this could just be another episode of “quick and dirty” Reality Star PR.

Reader Laura on Lisa Rinna Gets Plumped Lips Again
Posted by admin in celebrity plastic surgery, Injection Hell on January 7, 2013
Reader Laura:
“In recent pictures it looks like Lisa Rinna seems to have gone back to the lip plumpers. Does she look like she’s injecting her lips again to you?”
She publicly underwent lip reduction surgery two years ago to fix her botched trout pout. After some complications Lisa Rinna finally sorted out the problem, but seemed to be sporting slightly fuller lips again as she stepped out in Beverly Hill on Thursday. The self-confessed plastic surgery fan, who filmed the reduction for her reality show, and has admitted to using botox, seemed in great spirits as she wandered around a few days into the new year, showing off her luscious, large lips. Although they’ve ballooned and reduced dramatically over the last few years, they seemed a little larger than she’s had them recently, but looked much more natural. Whatever’s happened to her lips, it’s unlikely that she’s opted for juvéderm treatments which gave her so many problems in the past.

As some of you might remember, Lisa Rinna told of her silicone lip injections of many years ago that in all likelihood trashed her lips. She later went to have some of the scar and inflamed mess removed surgically from her upper lip. The painful progressive growth of her silicone injected lip is not atypical of silicone gel injections. This is amongst the reasons we have warned against them here for years. There are safe lip injection products. Silicone gel is not one of them.
Well now after her little surgical procedure, Lisa’s lips are likely at least a bit misshapen. I’d bet she’s having some small maintenance injection therapy to minimize this disfigurement. So yes: I’d say she’s back on the fillers.

Dr D on Britney Spears Reported Planned Cosmetic Surgery Makeover
Posted by admin in celebrity plastic surgery, Dr D's Truth on January 4, 2013
A source reported to National Enquirer, print edition January 14, 2013, “Britney Spears is rolling in the new year with a new look . . . planning a full-body overhall which will include a strict diet and exercise program along with extensive plastic surgery to her body and face.” I understand proper diet and exercise, but it sounds like she’s trying to one-up Simon Cowell for beauty treatments! Apparently, “she’s unhappy when she sees photos of herself with a very obvious triple chin, and she complains she has fat on her back and stomach.”

While I realize that PR is a science of extremes, I hope that there is not too much truth to this article. This of course makes me sound like a crazy plastic surgeon, but of course there is method to my madness.
Plastic surgery can be a good thing, but when taken to extremes it is more likely to turn out poorly. It sounds by the tones of this report that Britney is planning extreme. Trying to “one up” a friend who has reportedly had a lot of plastic surgery sounds like an invitation to the “Too Much Hurts” category. I would like Britney to stay clear of it by having a carefully thought out modicum of plastic surgery if any.
This type of philosophy makes a surgeon less of the green stuff, but makes the patient look better over the long term. Being ethical has cost Dr D in the personal rewards department, but I do not make “freaks.”

Dr Phil’s Wife & Plastic Surgery?
Posted by admin in celebrity plastic surgery on December 27, 2012
Dr. Phil’s wife, Robin McGraw, turns 60 in 2013, and experts say she’s had major cosmetic work done, including a face-lift, breast reduction and Botox treatments in an attempt to turn back the hands of time.

My wife is an avid Dr Phil watcher, so I see more than a few Dr Phil shows via the DVR. My wife and I have seen Dr Phil’s wife Robin on a few shows and it is obvious at least facially that she has had some work.
Would I venture to guess as to what exactly Robin has had done? Nope. I would suspect a facelift plus or minus eyes, but I have not treated her (obviously or this post would not be here.) Without seeing more images of Robin, before and after the times of suspected surgery it would be a hard guess.
One of the doctors in this Radaronline piece suggests she has had a mid-face lift and that is possible as the operation is in vogue and she would have probably seen one of the hot shots for that which is fashionable. This is my inference of course. The Radaronline doctors might have had a selection of images to review I would suspect.
I am more of a body surgeon and images of these areas are not so prevalent of Robin, so I would not make many more suggestions vis-a-vis what might have transpired in the operating room. As long as she and Dr Phil are happy about it, it’s all good.

Sharon Osbourne Scares Thigh Lift Patients
Posted by admin in celebrity plastic surgery on December 20, 2012
Yesterday’s episode of Anderson Live featured Sharon Osbourne surgery stories, inadvertently making the show an anti-plastic surgery PSA. When asked about her most painful surgery, she shared the gruesome details of her “leg lift” with Anderson Cooper, who (like us) seemed equal parts enthralled and nauseated and horrified by her description…the surgery itself sounds nauseatingly painful–Osbourne describes it as feeling like her legs were sewn together, and adds that “to pee it’s awful when you’ve had that done.” She says she wouldn’t recommend the surgery

Here we go again folks: Dr D to the rescue to provide the counterpoint to a “Hollywood depiction of plastic surgery” (or in this case a procedure) in general.
Thigh lift surgery can be a big deal particularly in the gastric bypass patient. I do not recommend them for everyone. Thigh Lift surgery can turn out well however, but it is one of the more “inconveniently uncomfortable” operations for the first few weeks even when done well. For 2-3 weeks following surgery, patients tend to be bothered when they go to the bathroom and sit on a toilet because this puts the suture lines on tension. In that sense Mrs Osbourne is correct.
But is it excruciating? No. That is an exaggeration. But then again Mrs Osbourne is known to entertain and exaggeration can be entertaining can’t it?
Suffice it to say Thigh Lift surgery is not for everyone and some operations are better technically than others. It is certainly an operation about which to have a long pre-operative discussion with your surgeon.

Cindy Crawford’s Shape Magazine Cover, Plastic Surgery and “Too Much Hurts?”
Posted by admin in celebrity plastic surgery on December 4, 2012
A Shape Magazine cover of Cindy Crawford prompted a comment or two at OK Magazine’s Facebook in which I became embroiled. Some were unimpressed with how Cindy looked in that cover photo. It seems I have thought not-so-much of a Shape magazine cover in the past. Maybe it is their post production computer work?
My comment on that Cindy Crawford post at Facebook was more of a passing thought really that maybe Cindy was approaching the precipice of “too much hurts”…meaning she’d had more than a little plastic surgery. I have been a critic of people who have had so much plastic surgery over time that their features have become distorted. Cindy is looking a bit tight in that cover. The exact source of her appearance in that photo however is a combination of her visage, the surgery involved in her current state, natural aging, and Photoshop. How much exactly is due to surgery is hard to discern.
Upon reviewing more of Cindy’s images (mostly from her twitter @CindyCrawford ,) I don’t believe that she has fallen over that precipice as of yet.
I see tendencies however.
Take into account that I am not bringing a sweeping indictment against Cindy. I am a plastic surgeon with a philosophy that puts making things look natural at a high priority. There are many who disagree with me. I do mostly body work as I personally do not like the appearance of the “overly processed face.” When I work on the face I am very conservative. While I so not see Cindy entirely in the “over done” light, I would slow down the facial surgery if I were her. We have quite enough in the “too much hurts” category and would like not to add Cindy.

Jessica Alba Got Lipo? – Should You?
Posted by admin in celebrity plastic surgery on November 29, 2012
According to an insider, Jessica, 31, went to the Beauty Park Medical Spa in Santa Monica, Calif. on Tuesday afternoon where she received their i-LIPO treatment on her stomach and thighs, as well as two cortisone shots. “Jessica had some laser liposuction treatment, which is a far less invasive way of melting away unwanted pockets of fat,” the source told RadarOnline.com.

alba-laser-liposuction-treatments
The way this piece is worded I wonder if it was set up. Wink. Wink. Nudge. Nudge.
I sincerely doubt that Jessica Alba uses liposuction to stay thin. She is thin already! Depending upon exactly what she had treated and her current exercise regimen, she might have been a good candidate for liposuction assuming she had some. On the other hand, some of that which might be going on in her belly might not be just fat.
After pregnancy, women have issues other than fat with which to contend. Pregnancy stretches the tummy. When skin and muscle get stretched, sometimes that looseness is ripe for tightening. A tummy tuck is larger scale surgery, but it works to tighten this looseness. As long as Jessica wasn’t looking for this kind of help, liposuction might be OK. Lipo is “fat only.”
I have poked fun at i-lipo before. I-lipo is a light treatment. It does not involve fat actually being suctioned from the body, so by my definition it is not liposuction. This might not do much. So in this sense, Jessica didn’t have liposuction. She had a light treatment. I doubt it did much of anything and in her case that is probably just fine.

Deena Nicole Cortese, a New Look and Plastic Surgery Rumors
Posted by admin in celebrity plastic surgery on November 27, 2012
Earlier this year, Jersey Shore star Deena Nicole debuted a much slimmer physique and a glam new face that looked so unlike her, it was highly suspected the little meatball got some major plastic surgery.

I have long thought of plastic surgery claims as “quick and dirty” PR. When a star needs a little attention, she (or he) just puts out a new look and floats plastic surgery rumors. We have discussed Deena Nicole before. She’s a veteran plastic surgery denier.
This time she might have had some work (I have yet to see really good pictures.) Much of this new look seems to be the lack of calories and maybe an exercise program. Yes, in some older images she looked like she hadn’t learned to push away from the buffet.
Imagine that.

Lisa Vanderpump Goes for Some Lip Filler
Posted by admin in celebrity plastic surgery on November 21, 2012
The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump often gets mouthy on-air with her bitchy co-stars, but it is her lips that are currently the center of attention after they suddenly seem to have gotten a whole lot bigger! “She’s not quite at the trout pout stage, but a few more lip filler injections and she might get there,” the surgery expert told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview.
Source: radaronline.com/exclusives/2012/11/lisa-vanderpump-plastic-surgery-trout-pout
From the images I saw at Radaronline she looks freshly treated. If so, this should settle down nicely over a few weeks. I tend to like the less plump more natural-looking lip which can be produced by placing less lip filler in the proper places. The Beverly Hills types tend to pack that filler in.
