Lisa Rinna – Silicone Lip Injections She Says

“This is the first time I have told what I have done to my lips. 23 years ago, I had silicone put in my top lip not the bottom lip. [The look] made me who I am. But after years and years, you develop scar tissue,” she said.

Silicone gel injected into the lips can really make a mess. She actually looks good for having had this done.

The Moral: no silicone gel injections in the lips.

UK Star Almost “Smokes Herself” By Not Quitting Cigarettes

Daily Mail

TV star Hilary Devey: How a little fib about my lifestyle nearly killed me

“The only thing I fell down on, and was specifically told to do, was to give up cigarettes. Mr Fenton said I needed to stop smoking two to three weeks before the operation, and warned me there were greater risks if I didn’t because it deprives the tissue of the oxygen it needs to heal properly, and potentially affects the heart.”

This lady went “to the best” and couldn’t be bothered to quit smoking. Tummy tuck surgery is about the largest scale operation a plastic surgeon can offer you. It can offer great improvement, but should not be taken lightly.

The operation didn’t cause her stroke or her wound healing problems: the cigarette smoking did. In fact, smokers and those who have smoked have higher risks of wound healing problems (sometimes with skin loss,) vein clots, strokes and even death…even when they quit beforehand. Quitting beforehand makes these risks decrease somewhat, so it a really good idea. This is absolutely something to consider when you look into that tummy tuck. You have an end to hold up in the bargain and it is not just the money. Your overall health determines the outcome of the operation just as does your surgeon’s skill.

Julia Roberts – Liposuction?

Daily Mail

I was asked about Julia Roberts and liposuction. It is possible that she might have had some looking at these pics, but then again she might have just lost weight after pregnancy the old fashioned way. She might be a good tummy tuck candidate with all that loose skin. Liposuction at this point wouldn’t offer her much. It really doesn’t tighten anything.

Botox / Botulinum toxin More Risky in Children

Msnbc

The Food and Drug Administration said Botox and two other injections carry risks of rare botulism symptoms, particularly when given to children to help relax uncontrollable muscle movements.

I have seen no such serious problems and I have been offering these drugs for ten years. Then again I do not treat children with them.

Lawyer Dishes on Breast Implants

Bitter Lawyer

In this cramped job market, women boosting their looks to compete is now a trend. Looks play a role. According to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, there were about 355,000 breast augmentations performed in the United States last year. A significant percentage of these patients were, in fact, female lawyers—or at least that’s what the plastic surgeons we consulted told us. While no doctor would identify their patients by name, they all confirmed “a decent percentage” of their clients were lawyers.

This post is actually pretty funny as a lawyer tries to analyze the whys and logic of women (in this case lawyers) choosing to get breast implants. The reasons any woman chooses cosmetic surgery vary a ton. It is a funny read anyway.

Long Beach California Hotel Tax

This weekend I got married and having to get back to work the Mrs and I took a quick overnight at a local hotel. Taxation at the hotel level is crazy:

Bill Summary (1 night):

Room $239.00
Occupancy Tax (12%) $ 28.68
Long Beach Tourism Assessment (3%) $ 7.17
California Tourism Assessment $ .13
Parking $ 16.00

So we paid on a 1 night stay 15% tax! And we live in Long Beach so we paid to be tourists in our home city and state in addition to occupancy tax.

Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!

Plastic Surgery May Help – But It Doesn’t Last Forever

Anastasia felt great after the initial operation to remove eye-bags ten years ago. But now, below, she is having the resulting wrinkles removed.
Source: dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1173492/Plastic-surgery-work–doesnt-ever.html

She looks to me like a patient who should have had little if any fat removed. Aggressive fat removal in the eyelids can lead to very visible wrinkles in the wrong patient.

The real potential in cosmetic surgery is a matter of technique and judgment. Some patients come to the office fixated on operations that may make them look worse, not better. How people may age also impacts on how things (including surgery) change over time.

Rupert Everett – Wrinkles Begone

Before he looked like a handsome, distinguished man. Now he’s a caricature of himself. Not even that close–he’s a caricature of someone else. Maybe Charlie Sheen by the looks of the “After” pic. And I’m sad. The “Before” picture is dorky and I’m sure was chose deliberately by the plastic surgeon.
Source: examiner.com/x-1906-Chicago-Mental-Health-Examiner~y2009m4d17-Feelgood-Friday-Plastic-surgery-as-worn-by-Rupert-Everett

I agree the after image is kinda dorky but I doubt the plastic surgeon had much to do with it. He just did the work. The wrinkles look nicely reduced. I would guess CO2 laser re-surfacing was involved here. Sorry the other blogger is not so happy.

MakeMeHeal Question: Daisy of Love

MakemeHeal Question:

Make Me Heal is doing a story on Daisy of Love from the reality show Rock of Love and her new show Daisy of Love. She looks like she’s had a lot of work: nose job, cheeks? lips? etc. Can you guess her implant size?

Gallery 1
Body Shot

She looks like she may be a frequent flyer. Some of the images vary in the lips and eyelids so she probably uses soft tissue fillers like Restylane. She certainly has implants that are likely in the 400 cc range. She may have had her nose done as well, but without “before” images I am guessing on most of this.
