Reader Laura on Ali Lohan Plastic Surgery
Posted by admin in celebrity plastic surgery on December 30, 2011
Reader Laura’s Comment:
“Ali Lohan has new pictures out where she doesn’t look like the same person. They are disturbingly different. The shape of her eyes even look different. Her mother/manager claims that it’s just because she grew up and that she hasn’t had anything done. What are your thoughts? What if anything does she look like she’s had done?”
New photos of Lindsay Lohan‘s younger sister Ali Lohan have hit the Web and are causing some fans to wonder if Ali has had some plastic surgery done. But Lindsay is speaking out and defending her sister against the speculation.

What is to defend with these Hollywood types? While I am not sure whether or not true facial surgery has occurred, I think at the very least Ali has joined the ranks of the facial filler users. Her lips are obviously treated. Weight loss doesn’t make your lips larger. Technically facial fillers are a procedure which most surgeons would not consider as “surgery,” so if this is all that has happened no absolute fabrication has occurred.

Butt Implants Sometimes Turn Out Weird

Woman Pissed Bout New Butt Implants
People occasionally ask me why I don’t do butt implants. I am a breast and body surgeon, but butt implants are really not all that reliable. I limit my practice to things I do well or better.

China “Non Politically Correct” Adoption Rules
China is imposing new restrictions on foreign adoptions, barring applicants who are unmarried, obese, over 50 or who take antidepressants, according to U.S. adoption agencies. The restrictions are meant to limit adoptions to “only the most qualified families,” said the Web site of one agency, Harrah’s Adoption International Mission in Spring, Texas. The agency said China has pledged to try to make more children available to those who qualify.

China has an abundance of people. And China is certainly not politically correct. As of May 1st 2007, ugly, fat, and single individuals will not be able to adopt Chinese babies.
We in America and the politically correct countries of the World forget that there are those countries who do not care much what we think and will act in what they believe to be their own best interest. It is funny and a bit ironic that in a country in which human rights are not valued such a rule would be issued.

Could Megan Fox’s Marilyn Monroe Tattoo Removal Be Less Painful?
Posted by admin in celebrity plastic surgery on December 29, 2011
Megan Fox is having her famous Marilyn Monroe tattoo removed from her forearm via laser. But apparently it’s not as easy as it sounds: Star magazine has a source claiming that Megan can barely stand the pain of the laser.
“After the first session Megan was freaking out over how badly it hurt,” the actress’ pal tells Star. “Her friend suggested a mouth guard to bite down on to help deal with the pain and protect her teeth.”

A mouth guard is a bit medieval. Has anybody ever heard of local anesthesia? I don’ know who is doing the work, but a good doctor could simply temporarily deaden the sensation by performing a nerve block in the two forearm cutaneous nerves. They are the medial and lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerves.
Just a thought.

Holly Madison Plastic Surgery
Posted by admin in good celebrity plastic surgery on December 28, 2011
Holly Madison is probably one of the best examples of plastic surgery done right. She is very pretty and achieved significant improvement with some nicely done surgery.
She has recently admitted that plastic surgery has improved her lot in life.
Holly has had her breasts operated at least twice in addition to her nose and probably also her face, forehead and cheeks. I’d wager these operations were done over time by experienced surgeons. One good thing about being affiliated with Hugh Hefner is that good talent becomes affordable.

More on PIP Breast Implants and The FDA rejection in 2000
Posted by admin in plastic surgery news on December 28, 2011
PIP implant makers did try to get FDA approval in the year 2000:
PIP was one of three companies that submitted an application, which came under review of a panel of outside advisors to the FDA in March 2000. At the time, PIP said it had already sold 35,000 of its pre-filled saline implants in the U.S., and that it was the third-largest manufacturer of breast implants in the world.
But the panel recommended that the FDA reject PIP’s application. Panelists said at the time they were not reassured by PIP’s data, and that the company’s clinical trials did not include enough patients that were followed for an adequate time to truly evaluate the device’s risks.
‘Like it or not, we have a regulatory threshold which is probably higher or at least different than it is elsewhere in the world, and I think in order to get your product approved, you’re just going to have to bite your tongue and meet that threshold.’
Source: dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2079044/US-warned-French-breast-implant-maker-PIP-10-YEARS-silicone-scandal.html
PIP saline implants had a high rupture rate as it became known in plastic surgery circles. The PIP saline implant line was available in the US for a short period of time ten or fifteen years ago.
Conservative surgeons like myself used very few of them and warned patients who requested them of their less than stellar reputation. I had one such patient who I remember had a rupture not-so-long after insisting upon having PIP saline filled implants.
She had felt PIP salines at another surgeon’s office and decided that these implants were for her. I actually had her sign a statement that I was recommending a US made implant with which I had more experience.
At least when saline implants rupture it is only saline (and a flat breast) with which the patient must be concerned. PIP silicone implants apparently had low grade silicone gel within them. This is a bit scarier.
I simply recommend any patient with PIP implants have them removed. It is a shame that not all women keep track of the implants they have had though.

Full versus Mini Tummy Tuck – What To Choose?
Posted by admin in Dr D's Truth, tummy tuck pre-op tutorial on December 27, 2011
Online resources for tummy tuck information suffer with a great deal of misconception. Even surgeons may disagree regarding choosing between different tummy tuck operations for a given patient. Reduced cost, pain and extent of surgery tend to push patients toward lesser surgery. These days “less invasive” is a popular selling point. As my practice has progressed however I have found the satisfaction rate of mini tummy tuck to be too low to support doing many of them. I do “minis” only in rare circumstances these days.
Mini tummy tuck surgery corrects much less than more involved full versions of the operation. If there is any significant looseness above the belly button, the mini will not address it much. If there is any more than a tiny bit of excess skin, the mini will not touch it much at all. The feeling of having been “under corrected” is common after mini tummy tuck surgery. If patients are unhappy with the results of a mini tummy tuck it is not always possible to do a full tummy tuck to repair the problem. Redo surgery is often more difficult and costly than it would have been if done initially as well. It can often improve but not completely correct that which has gone wrong.
When you are considering tummy tuck surgery, these issues should be discussed in detail with your experienced tummy tuck surgeon. Not all plastic surgeons are the same and not all plastic surgeons do many tummy tuck operations. Choose both your operation and surgeon carefully on this one.

A Lipoma Can Get Really Large- Picture Alert
Posted by admin in Lumps, Picture Warning on December 26, 2011

A lipoma is not something to be left alone. This Navy career man was told for 17 years by his doctor that this growing mass did not require removal. “It was just a lipoma.” This thing slowly grew to the point at which when he retired this large lump was visible even in clothing.
The bottom line here is that even if a soft fleshy lump is not cancer, it can grow and produce a problem if ignored for long enough.
My baseline recommendation is that people get these things removed early. On Page 2 is an image of the tumor once it was removed.
