Occasionally I will be asked about mesotherapy. Plastic surgeons really do not offer this alternative treatment. I only have the reports of a few of my patients that have had it:
One believes that it has been helpful after her liposuction.
One believes that it left her “lumpy” and needed an extension of her abdominoplasty with some liposuction to help fix this.
Mesotherapy involves the injection of a “compound” into your fatty tissues to make them shrink. The hope is that they shrink uniformly. This may not always happen. There is no uniformly accepted formula as to what should be injected. There is no oversight of which I am aware to make the experience safe. There is no specific training for practitioners who provide it. This is uncharted territory.
For those considering mesotherapy, I would consider it as an experiment. You don’t know how it may work for you until you try it. There are no good studies of which I know to tell you how it may work for you.
Best Regards,
