Reader Question: Scarless Breast Reduction?

October 20th, 2009 by admin Leave a reply »

Reader Question:

I want smaller breasts. On a TV show they talked about scarless breast reduction. How is this done? I don’t want scars.

When you see ads for “Scarless breast reduction,” they are generally offering breast liposuction. This is very limited in its ability to reduce the breast much (maybe a cup size,) does not include a breast lift and is controversial regarding the changes it leaves in your breast afterward. Some of these changes (seen on xrays) may or may not over the long term decrease the sensitivity of mammography in screening you for breast cancer. This is kind of “untried technology” in this regard.

Breast reduction by liposuction is also rarely if ever covered by health insurance. Just be careful as you consider this further.

    Laura,

I have posted on Zerona. Maybe I’ll do a follow-up. Thanks.

Another reader question ~ At what age do you think most people peak in looks (without the benefit of plastic surgery)? Correspondingly, at what age do you think many people reap the most benefits from minimally invasive facial work (peels/injections/fillers)?

Another company has come out with a new way to do lipo without surgery. It’s called laser liposuction and it’s being billed as a no-surgery weight loss.
