Frustrating Fat?

The term “Frustrating Fat” has entered the verbiage of cosmetic surgery as it has been coined by a body shaping center called Final Inches local to me in Orange County. As some of you know, I worked with Final Inches a bit in 2007-2008, so I have been asked a bit about it.

I stopped treating patients at Final Inches as of late 2008. Thanks to the many with whom I interacted while I was there.

This fat can be seen as flab that doesn’t go away despite how much you diet or exercise. If you’re relatively thin, watch what you eat and exercise regularly yet still have fat around your thighs, midsection, arms or chin, then you may have “frustrating fat,” or reserve fat. Common examples are seen in the post-pregnancy pooch that afflicts many mothers and love handles or “giggly” thighs.

Liposuction techniques work well for people who want to minimize their “frustrating fat”. As long as they do not have significant excesses in skin or muscular “looseness,” liposuction and its variant procedures have been effective in minimizing it. Results vary of course.
