Top Ten Tummy Tuck Facts
Posted by admin in Dr D's Truth on March 5, 2013
Tummy Tuck surgery is almost invariably greatly appreciated by the proper patient. These top ten facts might help you figure if you are such a person.
(1) Tummy Tuck surgery is one of the largest scale operations a plastic surgeon can offer a patient.
(2) Patients who have lost a good deal of weight or completed child bearing involving large weight gain and loss are the most common candidates. Patients do not lose much weight from the operation itself in most cases….maybe a few pounds on average.
(3) Post-operative pain used to make it necessary to admit the patient to a hospital for narcotics.
(4) Pain pumps when properly utilized can decrease pain significantly. Overnight stays often reduce risk when properly supervised.
(5) Revisions are not uncommon but can often be done in a lower key environment….such as local in the office. The revision rate varies enormously between surgeons.
(6) All tummy tucks are not alike. The work of the novice really shows in this operation.
(7) Many physicians in the OC offer these operations including plastic surgeons, cosmetic surgeons, gynecologists and general surgeons. You guess which ones look the best?
(8) When you go to the bargain basement doctor, some of what may happen may not be correctable later.
(9) Drains and pump catheters will need to be used for a week or longer. They reduce risk of fluid collections that can ruin otherwise nice results (My opinion of course.)
(10) Smoking can really impair healing and lead to skin necrosis which commonly detracts from the quality of the result and delays wound healing sometimes for months. Don’t have the surgery if you can’t stop the cigarettes and tell your surgeon a true indication of how many cigarettes you are smoking daily.

Tara Reid who went out of her way for Hyperbaric Oxygen Scar Therapy to improve healing after her re-operative plastic surgery could have saved some green.
Basic Plastic Surgery Math I:
Cigarette Smoking + Plastic Surgery = Poor Wound Healing
Stop the cigarettes and things will likely improve.

Dump The Cigarettes Hayden

Superior Gossip caught Hayden Panettiere smoking cigarettes.
Cigarettes contribute to early aging and cancer and death. If you are interested in maintaining your looks (and your life) I advise you to drop your cancer sticks in the nearest waste receptacle.

Sienna Miller Thinks She’s Losing Her Looks
Posted by admin in Celebs a Talkin' on July 9, 2009
“I’m lucky I’ve got a good metabolism. I’m very grateful for that. But I’m not toned at all. I think I’ve reached an age at 27 where it’s time for me to start working out a bit. I can’t get away with it any more.
“I used to be quite firm and tiny and, as I hit 25, things started to change. Now I’m 27 I’m noticing more changes – bare legs at the top and back is not a pretty sight. I’m lazy and if I wear clothes, it’s hidden well.
Maybe Ms Miller should follow through on her attempts to quit smoking, because smoking may be aging her prematurely. It also makes her a less wonderful candidate for plastic surgery should she wish to go in that direction in the future.

UK Star Almost “Smokes Herself” By Not Quitting Cigarettes

TV star Hilary Devey: How a little fib about my lifestyle nearly killed me
“The only thing I fell down on, and was specifically told to do, was to give up cigarettes. Mr Fenton said I needed to stop smoking two to three weeks before the operation, and warned me there were greater risks if I didn’t because it deprives the tissue of the oxygen it needs to heal properly, and potentially affects the heart.”
This lady went “to the best” and couldn’t be bothered to quit smoking. Tummy tuck surgery is about the largest scale operation a plastic surgeon can offer you. It can offer great improvement, but should not be taken lightly.
The operation didn’t cause her stroke or her wound healing problems: the cigarette smoking did. In fact, smokers and those who have smoked have higher risks of wound healing problems (sometimes with skin loss,) vein clots, strokes and even death…even when they quit beforehand. Quitting beforehand makes these risks decrease somewhat, so it a really good idea. This is absolutely something to consider when you look into that tummy tuck. You have an end to hold up in the bargain and it is not just the money. Your overall health determines the outcome of the operation just as does your surgeon’s skill.

Kirsten Dunst Doesn’t Read My Blog
Posted by admin in No Smoking Please on April 9, 2008
Popsugar features Kirsten Dunst pics today. Again she is smoking the cancer sticks. I guess she doesn’t read my blog. Or like many smokers she thinks smoking may not contribute to an untimely death.
The cancer sticks are becoming more popular with young women and the studies show smoking related cancer death is on the rise. Maybe she feels lucky?

Kiki Dunst – Sun and Cigarettes – Look Out!
Posted by admin in stay away from cigarettes on March 27, 2007
Kirsten Dunst is the poster child of how to trash your skin. She seems to like sunbathing while puffing on her very own cancer stick. Her pale white skin will not age well with this folks. She might not like the idea of cosmetic work, but she would be well-advised to change her tune to stop the wrinkles from coming. Sun and cigarettes are about the worst combination for your skin; that is, unless you like the signs of aging.
